Detailed 25 Days Uganda & Rwanda Safari itinerary.
Day 1: Arrival and transfer to your hotel
Meet with our safari guide who will then drive you to your hotel in Entebbe for overnight. (B.B)
Day 2: Drive to Kampala
Our safari guide will then meet you at your lodge and brief you about the 25 Days Uganda & Rwanda Safari. Then drive you to Kampala for a city tour. You will visit some of the historical as well as a religious place like Rubaga Cathedral, Namirembe cathedral, Bahai temple, Gadaffi mosque. In the evening you will enjoy the cultural dances from the Ndere Troupe. dinner and overnight at your hotel in Kampala.(B.B)
Day 3: To Jinja- Half day white water rafting
After breakfast, the safari guide will pick you at your hotel and drive you to Jinja for an exciting white water rafting in the River Nile. You will go for a half day adventure and then later in the evening, you will visit the source of the River Nile. Dinner and overnight at the hotel. (B.B)
Day 4: Drive to Sipi falls
After breakfast drive to Mbale- home to the Sipi Falls. Arrive in time for lunch and lunch go for a nature walk through coffee and banana plantation along Mount Elgon. Enjoy the beautiful views of the three breathtaking Sipi falls and the Karamoja plains. Then return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 5: Hike Mt. Elgon
After breakfast with packed lunch go for a one day hike on Mount Elgon. Mount Elgon has the largest volcanic base in the world. Take a 7 km hike through the bamboo trail to Kapkwai cave and then via the tropical forest. During this hike look out for primates, rare tree species and different bird species. Then return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 6: To Murchison falls
Have breakfast and then transfer to Murchison falls. After lunch hike to the top of the falls to have amazing waterfalls experience, watch the water bubble, roar, and the ground shake as the rainbow is also seen. Then have an evening game drive as you head towards your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 7: Game and Boat ride
Morning game drive after breakfast, expect to see lions, elephants, giraffes, antelopes, and hippos. Return to the lodge for hot lunch then an afternoon boat ride upstream at the bottom of the Murchison Falls. During the boat ride expect to see hippos, Nile crocodiles as well as aquatic birds. Along the shores, you will see elephants, buffaloes, and animals as they come to quench their thirst. Then return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 8: Rhino tracking
After breakfast drive to Ziwa rhino sanctuary to track rhinos. Have lunch and then track the rhinos and thereafter have a swamp walk in the sanctuary. Check in to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 9: Transfer to Hoima
Have breakfast then drive to Hoima- the City of oil. Have lunch then visit some of the religious and historical sites in the Bunyoro kingdom like Karuziika royal palace, Kataisha fort, Mparo tombs, and Duhanga cathedral. Then check into your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 10: To Fort portal- Amabera ga Nyina Mwiru
Have breakfast, then drive to Fort portal. After lunch visit Amabera ga Nyina Mwiru- this is a cultural site with a rich cultural history of the Batoro people. Take time to learn about the interesting myth about these caves. Then hike the Nyakasura hills enjoy a clear view of the 3 crater lakes. Check in to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 11: To Semuliki- Visit the hot springs
Have breakfast then drive to the famous Sempaya hot spring in Semuliki for an interesting adventure. The hot springs here boil up to 103 degrees Celsius, therefore, with the help of your guide, you will boil eggs and bananas. Also, visit the Batwa pygmies in their homesteads. Then return to Fort portal for dinner and overnight at your lodge.
Day 12: To Kibale Forest- Nature walk
After breakfast drive to Kibale forest; check into your lodge for hot lunch and then go for a nature walk in the Bigodi Swamp. During this nature walk expect to see a number of primate species such as chimpanzees, monkeys and a variety of bird species. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 13: Chimpanzee tracking
Have an early breakfast then head to Kanyachu (park headquarters) for chimpanzee tracking guidelines. Thereafter join the ranger as you search for the habituated chimps; spend one hour observing and taking photos after you have found them. Return to the lodge and relax for the entire evening. Dinner and overnight at your lodge.
Day 14: To Queen Elizabeth
Have breakfast in the morning then drive to Queen Elizabeth national park. Arrive in time for lunch, check in your lodge and have lunch. In the evening you will go for an evening game drive, expect to see lions, elephants, buffaloes, and warthogs. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight at your lodge.
Day 15: Morning game and Boat ride
Have a cup of coffee and then go for a morning game drive to see lions, buffaloes, elephants among others. Return to the lodge for hot lunch. In the afternoon you go for a refreshing boat ride on the Kazinga channel. During the boat ride, you will see hippos, buffaloes, monitor lizards and elephants along the shorelines. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 16: Cultural encounters in Queen Elizabeth
After breakfast, you will visit Katara village, take 2 to 3 hours hike through the farms on the Kichwamba escarpment. During the nature walk, you will see beautiful bird species, exotic and medicinal plants. The local guide will explain to you the local farming methods used. Then you will also tour the beehives. After enjoying the nature walk of the endless savanna, you will hike back up the escarpment and return to the lodge. Return to the lodge for hot lunch. In the evening you will visit the art craft workshop run by Kikorongo women community. You will also observe their way of life, dances, drama, and music. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 17: Transfer to Bwindi forest
Early in the morning transfer southwestwards to Bwindi forest. You will stopover at the equator for photos and the water experiment, then proceed to Mbarara town the home of the long-horned Ankole cattle for lunch. Drive through the rolling hills of the beautiful terraced countryside, until you eventually reach Bwindi forest. Check in to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 18: Gorilla trekking
After breakfast, you will drive to the park headquarters for a briefing about gorilla trekking. Then you will be assigned to track different gorilla groups, then join the Rangers as you trek the impenetrable in search for the mountain gorillas. Once you have found them, you will spend about an hour observing them as well as taking photos and videos of these endangered species. Later return to the lodge and relax the entire evening. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
Day 19: To Rwanda
After breakfast transfer to Rwanda via lake Bunyonyi. Take a brief walk at the lake shore before driving to the border point. Then drive to Ruhengeri and spend a night in Kinigi.
Day 20: Golden monkey tracking
Have breakfast, drive to the volcanoes park headquarters for golden monkey tracking guidelines. Then you will drive to the tracking start point and join the Rangers as you search for the golden monkeys. You will then spend one hour observing and taking photos of these very active monkey species. Return to the lodge for a hot lunch and relax the entire evening. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
Day 21: Iby’Iwacu cultural village
After breakfast, you will then visit Iby’Iwacu cultural village in Musanze to have a first-hand experience with the lifestyle of the local people. Interact with the local, learn about their farming methods, banana beer making, and traditional food preparation. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 22: Transfer to Lake Kivu
Have breakfast then drive to Lake Kivu for the water adventure. Enjoy water trips and cruises to the Nyamirundi island where there is a lot of coffee growing and processing. After lunch take a visit to Imbabazi orphanage which takes care of the children orphaned by the terrible Rwandese genocide. Check into your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 23: Kayaking on Lake Kivu
Have breakfast then go for a full day kayak adventure on Lake Kivu to the coffee islands; experience the coffee making process. Kayak to the nearby islands as you watch the fishermen go about their daily fishing business. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 24: To Kigali- city tour
Have breakfast then drive to Kigali city. Visit the Genocide memorial center, Nyabugogo market, Kimironko market. Also, visit the Niyo cultural center and Inema art center. Check into your hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day 25: Departure
Depending on your flight schedule our safari guide will transfer you to the airport in time to board your flight back home.
